Sonic Unleashed director Yoshihisa Hashimoto has left Sonic Team to pursue new projects at SquareEnix. Tssz News has the scoop:
A statement given to TSSZ News by a Sega employee confirms that Hashimoto is now working at Square Enix, just as we reported Monday:
….Yoshihisa Hashimoto has left SEGA to pursue another opportunity and we’d like to wish him well in his future endeavors.
This has led to a lot of speculation, particularly as to the future of the Hedgehog Engine and of course, what direction will Sonic take in an upcoming release. I’m not pleased with this, as I felt he sorta took Sonic in the right direction(though opinions might differ).

Bummer, you nicked my article maxcady
Silly work phoned up before I could finish it haha.
Anyway, yeah it’s kinds disappointing. Though if it was him who conceived the idea of the werehog…
Still, you can’t deny he did a great thing with SU. let’s hope Sonic’s next outing doesn’t reflect what happened last time he lost a father…
Yes, Sonic Unleashed was developed from the day 1 with the werehog in mind, but the Day time stages were perhaps the best I’ve seen since the Adventure days.
As long as Shun Nakamura doesn’t have his way with this franchise(especially with the Sonic 06 mess), I’ll be happy.
Nakamura? I’ll google him. maybe then I can blame somebody else apart from Yuji Naka for 06… and I really wanna play ‘Lets Tap’ hehe, kinda hard when you’re determined to forever hate the guy who made it happen
Sonic will be fine! Read the SU dev bolgs and you`ll see thtat the SU producer is THE big cheese! (or somit like that lol)
